Wok Pan, Kadai, karahi or sarten wok, whatever your family calls it, this is the pan that does the heavy lifting: a deep, wide, round-bottomed kadai for browning meat, building a masala, deep-frying pakoras, or tossing a stir-fry over high heat. Kitchen King's mirror finish karahis are traditional uncoated aluminum, with no coating to scratch, so you can cook hot and cook hard.

There are two ranges here. The Delvo Wok/Karahi comes with a glass lid in 26, 28 and 30cm (about 10,11 & 12 inches), a good everyday size for a family. The Super Wok / Kadahi Pan runs from 23cm (9") up to 50cm (20"), so one range covers a small home kitchen, a family that cooks for guests, and the larger sizes that restaurants and caterers use.

Both are made from heavy-gauge aluminum for fast, even heating, with riveted handles for a secure grip. They work on gas and electric glass stovetops. Aluminum is not induction compatible on its own; for induction, see our Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Pro Wok/Karahi or our Induction Series.

This is an uncoated pan, not a nonstick one. Preheat it, use a little oil, and it releases food well. If you'd rather have a coated surface, see our Non-Stick Wok/Karahi range.

Known as a karahi or kadai in Pakistani and Indian kitchens, a kadhai in Hindi and Marathi, a korai in Bengali, a cheenachatty in Kerala, a kawali in the Philippines, and simply a wok in Chinese and pan-Asian cooking: the shape is the same everywhere, and so is the job.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is this wok/karahi nonstick?

No. These are uncoated aluminum. Preheat the pan and use a little oil for easy release. For a coated pan, see our Non-Stick Wok/Karahi range.

What's the difference between a karahi, kadai, kadhai and a wok?

They are the same basic deep, wide, round-bottomed shape. Karahi, kadai and kadhai are different spellings used across South Asian communities; wok is the Chinese and pan-Asian term. The same pan works for all of them.

Which size should I buy?

26–30cm suits most families; 33–38cm suits larger families and guests; 45–50cm (18"–20") is for catering and restaurants.

Does it come with a lid?

The Delvo comes with a tempered glass lid. The Super Wok comes with a same material lid.

Does it work on induction?

Not on its own. These are designed for gas and electric glass stovetops. For induction, see our Stainless Steel Tri-Ply Pro Wok/Karahi or our Induction Series.

Can I deep-fry in it?

The deep, round shape is commonly used for frying. As with any pan, don't leave hot oil unattended and don't fill beyond a safe level. (usually half  fill)

Is it suitable for restaurant or catering use?

The 18" and 20" sizes are listed as suitable for domestic and commercial use. Contact us for bulk orders.
